BREAKING POINTE VOL 4

HELLO HELLO EVERYONE!

So if you guys remember, Breaking Pointe Vol 4 is happening real soon!
For this year, we will be having two rounds instead of the usual one, heats and finals.

Heats: 18th Oct, 6.30-10pm, Studio 5
Finals: 25th Oct, 7-10pm, Audi 3

If you did not already know, Breaking Pointe is our very own internal modern competition and is a compulsory event for all Year 1 moderners. If you are not part of the modern genre, you are also allowed to join the competition however, you are only able to join the OPEN category.

So this is how things are going to work this year.

We will be having three categories:
  1. Solo Cat
  2. Junior Cat (min 2 people, max 5 people)
  3. Senior Cat. (min 2 people, max 5 people)

You are allowed to join more than 1 category if you want too as well. For example,

  • Bunz has formed a group with 2 other members, and also wants to try doing a solo piece. Bunz can join both Senior / Junior Cat and Solo Cat.
  • Freshie Xue has formed a group within the freshmen and also a group with seniors. Freshie Xue can join both Junior and Senior Cat.
  • Amantou has formed two groups with two different sets of seniors.. Amantou can join Senior Cat twice.

Now how do you move on from heats to finals?
The TOP 5 from each category will move on from heats to finals and they will be judges based on the criteria of musicality, choreography, and dance technique. The judges will then decide who will move on to the finals and the results will be released on the day of the heats.

Pssst: During the finals, there will be a special element added but more details of that will be released at a later date ;)

Details about Heats:

Date: 18 October 2016
Time: 6.30-10pm.
Venue: Studio 5

Each item for heats should last between 1min to 1min 10secs. I repeat,
1 MIN TO 1 MIN 10 SECS.

!! Gentle reminder again that BP is compulsory for all freshmen moderners. So even if you are a year 3, if this is your first year in modern, you have to join. ((heats are specially timed for after 6pm so that dancers on intern will still be able to come down and participate))

For this round, it will be a closed-door event. No audience members will be invited and you will perform your piece solely to our judges in the studio. Not even your competitors will be able to watch you.

So now! All competitors, please TEXT the details of your groups in the following format to Marian (96745646) by 28th September!

Group Name:
Group Members: (Full name)
Category you are joining: (Solo / Junior / Senior)

LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOUR CREATIVE JUICES FLOW AND WATCH YOUR ITEMS

xx
